The General Settings of AutoResponder explained

Not only can settings be made separately for each AutoResponder rule, there are also general settings that apply to the entire app. You can find them in the menu on the left of the main screen.

The general settings of AutoResponder

List of all settings

Version of WA/FB/IG/TG/SGNL

By default, AutoResponder replies to messages from all official messenger versions on the device. You can restrict AutoResponder to specific versions using these settings. If you use multiple copies of a single messenger version with the dual app feature of your device, you can use the Disable specific versions setting to exclude certain copies from receiving automatic replies.

If you have multiple accounts in one messenger app and only want to reply to one, please separate these accounts into multiple messenger apps (using the dual messenger feature of your phone or by downloading a second version of the messenger - like Telegram and Telegram X). Then you can use the settings below to choose which account/messenger can receive automatic replies.

Choose WA/FB/IG/TG/SGNL version

If you use several different versions of a messenger but only want to reply to one particular version, you can select it here.

Custom package name/s

If you want to send automatic replies to apps that are not listed in the above setting, you can enter their Android package names separated by commas here. Please check the web if you don't know what a package name of an Android app is and how to find it.

Enable this setting by choosing Custom in the Choose WA/FB/IG/TG/SGNL version setting above.

Note that AutoResponder is adapted to the specific messenger and therefore automatic replies to other apps may be faulty.

Multi-User support

Reply to messenger versions of other users on this device (only some devices can have multiple user profiles). This also supports the Dual App or Dual Messenger functionality of most devices. Disable this setting to stop automatic replies for additional copies of a single messenger version and only reply to the main version of the messenger.

Disable specific versions

If you are using multiple copies of a single messenger version (this is possible with the Dual Messenger or Dual App feature of many devices), you cannot use the Choose XX version option to select which version the replies should be limited to. Instead, you can use this option to exclude certain copies from receiving automatic replies.

Clear versions list

Tap here to clear the list of the Disable specific versions option above. This helps you to keep track and to check which of the displayed messenger copies is the right one by receiving a new message.

Notifications

Settings regarding the notifications that AutoResponder displays in the status bar of your device when replying to messages.

Notifications

Show notifications when AutoResponder automatically replies to a message. If disabled, priority notifications can still be activated to show notifications for certain rules.

Priority notifications

Show Priority notifications when AutoResponder automatically replies to a message with a specific rule. These are displayed separately from the normal reply notifications. Activate priority notifications within individual rules.

Open notification settings

Tap to display the advanced notification settings of your device. Depending on the Android version, each type of notification can be customised individually here.

General

General settings that do not fit any other category.

App lock

Secure access to AutoResponder with your PIN, pattern, or biometrics as set on your lock screen.

The lock is displayed each time the app is opened.

Note that AutoResponder remains open in the background when you minimise it with the home button of your device. Use the back button instead.

Disable swipe to delete

With this option you can prevent accidental deletion of AutoResponder rules and answer replacements. It turns off swiping left to delete them. You can still delete rules from the menu within a rule.

Reply header

Add a custom header to each auto-reply, which may read something like "Automatic reply" or "AutoResponder". It is bold if supported by the messenger.

Reply footer

Add a custom footer to each auto-reply, which may read something like "Sent by AutoResponder". It is italic if supported by the messenger.

Ignore accents

Rules ignore the accents, diacritics and most ligatures in received messages.

Don't reply if pattern matches (see Pattern Matching)

AutoResponder doesn't reply to any messages which match the pattern defined here, even if a rule would fit. You can set it to ignore messages which start, end with or contain specific words. The formatting is the same as for the Pattern matching feature. Please check that.

For example if your device language is set to English, you can write Reacted* to ignore the new reaction messages of WhatsApp.

Specific contacts (Override in rule)

Only reply to messages from these chats. Enter the name of the chat, group or group participant exactly as shown in the notification or chat list of the messenger. Separate chats with commas. You can use * as wildcard.

Check here for more information.

Note that field must remain blank if all chats should be able to receive automatic replies.

(Override in rule) means that you can override this setting for each rule individually by using the same setting within any rule.

Ignored contacts (Override in rule)

Don't reply to messages from these chats. Enter the name of the chat, group or group participant exactly as shown in the notification or chat list of the messenger. Separate chats with commas. You can use * as wildcard.

Check here for more information.

(Override in rule) means that you can override this setting for each rule individually by using the same setting within any rule.

Delay min (Override in rule)

Delay all AutoResponder replies. AutoResponder selects a random delay between Min and Max.

Check here for more information.

(Override in rule) means that you can override this setting for each rule individually by using the same setting within any rule.

Delay max (Override in rule)

Delay all AutoResponder replies. AutoResponder selects a random delay between Min and Max.

Check here for more information.

(Override in rule) means that you can override this setting for each rule individually by using the same setting within any rule.

Prevent repeating rules

Any rule can only be executed once by a contact within the set time (check the setting below), unless another rule was executed in between (that's different to the Pause rule for… option, but both options are quite similar).

This helps prevent response loops between two AutoResponders chatting with each other, which can generate a lot of messages in a short time, which some messengers might consider spam.

Prevent repeating rules (Duration in seconds)

Set the time in seconds for the Prevent repeating rules setting above.

Note that setting 0 is not the same as disabling the option. 0 here means ∞. You can enter 0 if each rule should not be executed again until another rule is executed by the same contact (without regard to time).

Similarity threshold

This setting affects the Similarity match option of your rules. See its article for more information.

Automation

These options help you automate your chats even further.

Receive message to ignore contact (or #ruleID)

Enter any message you like here. As soon as you receive this message from a contact, the contact will receive a final automatic reply (if there is a corresponding rule) before being added to the Ignored contacts (Override in rule) setting. You can also type # followed by a rule ID (e.g. #2) to automatically ignore a contact after they trigger that rule. The rule ID can be found at the top within a rule. NEW: You can also enter multiple rule IDs separated by commas (e.g. #1, #2, #3).

Contacts can thus automatically switch off the AutoResponder for themselves and switch it on again with the option below. This can be useful, for example, when a user wants to speak to an employee.

Receive message to remove ignored contact

Enter any message you like here. As soon as you receive this message, the setting above is cancelled for the contact and automatic replies are sent again with immediate effect.
